7 Things to Expect From Samsung Galaxy S24

Samsung Galaxy S series is one of the best Android smartphone series on the market, given its top-notch features and specs. With the Galaxy S24 phones expected to launch in early 2024, there is a lot of buzz about new features that could be added to the available tech, like AI or design upgrades to elevate the user experience and phone performance. So, here are some of the key features to expect from the S24:

To know what to expect from the S24, it is important to understand what its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, offers. It consists of three models: the base model S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra with 6.1-inch, 6.6-inch, and 6.8-inch screens, respectively. All three have AMOLED displays and are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 8GB RAM of 8 GB and storage options of 128GB and 256GB. The Ultra model comes with a 12GB RAM variant and a 1TB storage option. All three models have a 12MP front camera and three rear cameras, with the base and S23 Plus offering 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto cameras. However, the Ultra has a mindboggling 200MP main rear camera and an additional rear 10MP telephoto with 10x zoom. The battery sizes for the three models are 3,900 mAh, 4,700 mAh, and 5,000 mAh, respectively. The Ultra also offered support for the S Pen to enhance convenience. So, the expectations from the S24 build upon the existing S23 features. Based on these specs, h ere are some of the changes that one can expect in the Samsung Galaxy S24:

1. Design upgrades
Samsung is known for its impeccable design. For the brand’s high-end Android phones, the focus has been to give customers the best display, stunning exterior, reimagined cameras, and easy-to-use interface. One can expect improved design in the S24, with the Ultra variant switching to curved corners and flat displays (to replace the curved screen). One may continue to see lightweight Titanium used in the side rails, making the S24 Ultra a lightweight option weighing just 233 grams.

2. Processor and storage upgrades
All three models of the Samsung Galaxy S24 are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, with a RAM of 8GB or 12GB, which is similar to the previous generation model. There is little likelihood of any change or increase in the storage of any of the phones, but there are speculations that the Ultra could offer 2TB storage.

3. Changes in display
Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to feature a display brighter than the S23, with a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The highest from Samsung so far has been 1,750 nits for the S23 Ultra. The challenge here would be maintaining longer battery life while offering such high and intense brightness. Additionally, Samsung could opt for the next-gen M13 OLED display panel, which is thinner and more efficient than the M12 used in the previous generation models.

4. Battery upgrades
The S24 is likely to have larger batteries than its predecessor. Experts suggest that the S24 will have a 4,000 mAh battery, the S24+ has a 4,900 battery, and the Ultra may have the same 5,000 mAh battery. The Ultra battery may support up to 45W fast charging.

5. Camera modifications
Like previous launches, the camera specs are likely to be the highlight of S24’s Ultra model. While there may not be huge changes, Samsung could offer a larger camera sensor. On the other hand, the brand may reduce its 10x optical zoom to 5x optical zoom.

6. Software upgrade
The One UI 6 was officially introduced for the Galaxy S23 phones, and one can expect to see the upgraded version One UI 6.1 based on Android 14.

7. Pricing options
Samsung has, in the past few years, maintained consistent pricing for the Galaxy S series, so the Samsung Galaxy S24 may have a starting price of $799, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus may start from $999, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could cost $1,199. 

Of the three phones to be launched in the Galaxy S series, the Ultra is, as usual, likely to be the most advanced model with the best specifications, backed by the latest software and technology. However, the S24 and S24 Plus are also great options to consider, owing to their superior camera, display, and performance among the phones in the segment.
